What is duplicate line removal?
Duplicate lines creep into every kind of list: merged keyword exports, log files, email lists, crawled URLs. This tool removes them — paste the list, get a clean version. What makes it more than a one-trick filter is the choice of removal modes.
Remove all duplicates keeps only the first occurrence of each line. Remove consecutive duplicates collapses repeated neighboring lines but keeps repeats that appear again later — the right mode for log files where the same line legitimately recurs at different times. Keep only unique lines is the inverse: it outputs just the lines that appeared exactly once, which is how you isolate the entries that differ between two lists.
Supporting options handle messy input: trim whitespace before comparing, so "example.com" and a version with a trailing space count as duplicates; preserve, delete or filter empty lines; and optionally sort the output so any survivors are easy to verify visually. The modes compose with the sorting option, so a common workflow is one pass to trim and deduplicate, then a sorted result that makes manual spot-checking trivial.
