Audio Converter

This tool converts audio files between formats — MP3, AAC and WAV — using a full FFmpeg build compiled to WebAssembly that runs inside your browser tab. Drop in an M4A from a voice recorder, an OPUS file from a messaging app or any audio format your player refuses, pick the output format, and download the converted file.

Choosing a format is a trade-off between size and fidelity. MP3 is the safe universal choice that plays everywhere. AAC delivers better quality at the same bitrate and is the native format of phones and streaming. WAV is uncompressed — huge files, zero loss — which is what audio editors want as source material. A sensible default bitrate is applied for the compressed formats.

Two things to expect on first use: the browser downloads the FFmpeg engine once (a few megabytes, then cached), and conversion of long files takes real time because your own CPU does the work. That local processing is also the privacy story — your audio is never uploaded to a server, which matters for interviews, voice notes and anything confidential. If the input is already in the target format, the original file is returned unchanged rather than needlessly re-encoded.
